Testimonials:
I have been taking violin lessons twice a week with Katrina for exactly 3 months. Violin lessons with Katrina are a true joy, stress free, and have turned into the best part of my week - I really look forward to them. I had never even picked up a violin before, and after 3 months, I have a good handle on violin fundamentals and technique, including reading sheet music, good posture, hand placement, handling the bow, caring for my instrument, practicing with a metronome, etc. The lessons have a lot of variety and are always fun. I was even able to compose my first little violin original tune and record it, which was a real thrill to me. Katrina is a great teacher with endless enthusiasm and knowledge. Her ear is really amazing too - she can tell right away when my violin is slightly out of tune - I am convinced her ear is more accurate than my tuner. She really knows her stuff!
I will continue taking lessons with Katrina and look forward to continuing my learning journey with her. I highly recommend Katrina to any adult (or anyone) looking to being their violin journey.

We have known Katrina as a musician, friend and neighbor and can vouch for her reliability, trustworthiness, and competence as an accomplished performer and teacher. Katrina taught my daughter virtually on violin for more than four months as a way to expand and help her build a solid technique as she began violin in school. With our busy work/life schedules, virtual lessons were the only way we could find the time. We would still be working with Katrina but our time zones are too far apart now. My daughter always looked forward to her lessons with Katrina. Although the violin can be a challenging instrument to learn, Katrina kept the lessons fun and engaging. She always felt supported and encouraged. She especially enjoyed how Katrina would record her playing a solo or playing a piece with Katrina and then Katrina would play the piece back. The instant feedback proved to be invaluable in fine tuning her technique. It also gave her a chance to enjoy hearing herself playing and feeling a sense of accomplishment. The work she did with Katrina definitely provided her the foundation she needed to play at school. She earned the Concertmaster position her first year and every year since. Katrina's love for the violin and for sharing her expertise is clearly expressed in how she teaches: with enthusiasm, humor and an abundance of joy. A true professional.

By an incredible chance that happens only once in our lives, when I heard her play and sing, I knew immediately that I needed her as a teacher. I am a beginner flutist, and although she is a singer and violinist, her teaching has transcended the barrier of our instruments. she taught me how to provide a rhetorically and therefore musically relevant meaning to the pieces I played (Bach, Telemann, Haydn), she taught me how to play with the metronome while remaining flexible in my rhythm, but without compromising rhythmic rigor. She helped me to work on my articulation, my phrasing, my breathing in a way that the result is musically delectable. Supreme pleasure: we played as a duo and suddenly, the music became alive for me. In a word, she managed to make me more of a musician in a very short time, just in a few classes.
