Violin and Singing lessons online
Using zoom, I welcome remote voice and violin students of all ages! I teach privately as well as offering a completely donation based group vocal warm-ups class!
As a teacher, my goal is to help you progress musically in a way that is fun, engaging, and rewarding. I believe in finding the right speed of lesson and goals that resonate for each student.
- Violin lessons: I like to take time to build a strong foundation that can take you through advanced levels in any style. I focus especially on a flexible, light bow grip that can help with fluidity and beauty of sound.
- Voice lessons and vocal coaching: my focus is on building a healthy, core sound and developing practice skills with a focus on body awareness and movement. I am happy to work with students wanting to learn all styles and I encourage a broad range of repertoire, but my background is from a classical perspective and developing well-rounded musicians.
- General music lessons: note reading, sight reading and sight singing, basic keyboard, basic theory, and general music history which can all be personalized to your interests and level.
Pricing and Structure
I know music lessons can be expensive, and I want to make them a possibility for everyone! When you reach out, we will schedule a free 40 minute trial voice or violin lesson to discuss your goals, my teaching style, as well as rates and my structured sliding scale to find something that works for both of us.
When you start lessons, you can choose:
- Lesson length
- I recommend 45 minute or hour long lessons for most adults
- Frequency
- once weekly (guarantees a spot on my calendar)
- 2 or 3 times weekly (guarantees a spot on my calendar)
- biweekly (guarantees a spot on my calendar)
- one at a time (great for the less regular calendar)
What you need to take lessons:
- A desire to learn!
- A computer or tablet for Zoom
- I am happy to walk you through using Zoom and any technicalities if you are unfamiliar with remote music lessons

We have known Katrina as a musician, friend and neighbor and can vouch for her reliability, trustworthiness, and competence as an accomplished performer and teacher. Katrina taught my daughter virtually on violin for more than four months as a way to expand and help her build a solid technique as she began violin in school. By an incredible chance that happens only once in our lives, when I heard her play and sing, I knew immediately that I needed her as a teacher. I am a beginner flutist, and although she is a singer and violinist, her teaching has transcended the barrier of our instruments. she taught me how to provide a rhetorically and therefore musically relevant meaning to the pieces I played (Bach, Telemann, Haydn), she taught me how to play with the metronome while remaining flexible in my rhythm, but without compromising rhythmic rigor. She helped me to work on my articulation, my phrasing, my breathing in a way that the result is musically delectable. Supreme pleasure: we played as a duo and suddenly, the music became alive for me.
